Dhaka, Mar 01 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Foreign Secretary held a meeting with representatives of Gulf countries on Sunday morning, urging them to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi expatriates amid escalating tensions following the joint US-Israel attack on Iran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that 55 flights to the Middle East have already been canceled, causing difficulties for passengers, many of whom have visas nearing expiration. The ministry called on Gulf country delegations to prevent any hardships for these expatriates.

Additionally, embassies have been instructed to take measures to guarantee the safety of Bangladeshis residing in Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.

The meeting comes after Iran reportedly targeted 27 American bases across Israel and other Middle Eastern nations in retaliation for the US-Israel strikes. The Foreign Ministry emphasized continued coordination to protect the interests and safety of Bangladeshi citizens abroad.
