Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman has highlighted the concerning trend of motorcycle-related road accidents in Bangladesh, urging the public to avoid using motorcycles for inter-district journeys, especially during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Speaking to reporters in Panthapath area, Commissioner Rahman emphasized the risks associated with motorcycle travel, particularly during the festive season. He urged people to opt for safer modes of transportation, considering the high traffic volume and potential for accidents.

Additionally, Commissioner Rahman instructed police personnel to refrain from using motorcycles for their own safety during this period.

Addressing concerns about security during Eid, Commissioner Rahman stated that the police force is vigilant and prepared to prevent incidents of mugging and theft, especially in deserted areas of Dhaka.

Regarding traffic management in the lead-up to Eid, Commissioner Rahman acknowledged the challenges posed by increased shopping activity and inadequate parking facilities in the capital's malls. While urging market authorities to improve parking arrangements, he emphasized the importance of ensuring orderly parking to minimize traffic congestion.

In efforts to enhance road safety, Commissioner Rahman reiterated the enforcement of traffic laws, including measures to prevent the operation of unfit vehicles on the roads. He warned of strict action against violators to maintain road discipline and ensure public safety.
