Pabna, Aug20 (V7N) — A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury fined Abdul Momin, Organizing Secretary of the Bilchalan Union unit of Krishak Dal, Tk 50,000 for running a milk collection facility without valid documentation. The raid was conducted Wednesday morning at the Notabaria Bazaar area in Chatmohar upazila.

Earlier this week, authorities uncovered a clandestine operation allegedly run by Momin, where large quantities of adulterated milk were being produced using soybean oil, chemicals, and various other additives. Operating out of a rented tin-roofed facility opposite his home in Notabaria’s Bishipara area, Momin was reportedly producing over 2,000 liters (50+ maunds) of fake milk daily and supplying it to local milk collection centers.

Despite long-standing rumors in the community, locals were reluctant to speak out due to Momin’s political affiliations and local influence. However, acting on a tip-off, UNO Musa Naser Chowdhury, accompanied by police and Ansar personnel, raided the facility around 10:00 PM on Monday. The suspects fled before law enforcement arrived, but officials seized approximately 20 maunds of adulterated milk along with chemicals, soybean oil, and mixing equipment, which were later handed over to the local police.

No legal case was filed at the time, reportedly due to the absence of a formal complaint.

Surprisingly, by early Wednesday morning, Momin resumed operations at his milk chilling center without securing the necessary legal permits. Upon receiving the report, the magistrate conducted a second raid and imposed a Tk 50,000 fine. Momin was warned to immediately cease operations unless he obtains valid registration and documentation.

Speaking to the media, UNO Musa Naser Chowdhury confirmed the penalty and warned that stricter actions would be taken in the future if such violations continue, particularly concerning food items intended for children. Police personnel were present during the raid to ensure security and enforcement.

This incident has reignited concerns over food safety and the influence of local political actors in shielding illicit operations in rural Bangladesh.
