Mongla, Mar 11 (V7N) – Forest guards have recovered a deer’s head along with 30 kg of meat abandoned by poachers in Mongla. The meat was found early Monday morning near the Baidyamari Bazar area, located within the Chandpai Range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division. Following the recovery, the authorities destroyed the meat by pouring kerosene on it and burying it in the ground.
According to Dipan Chandra Das, Assistant Forest Conservator of the Chandpai Range, they received a tip-off that a group of poachers was carrying deer meat from the Sundarbans and heading towards the Joymonirghol area of the Chila Union. Based on the information, the forest guards conducted a search at Baidyamari Bazar. Upon realizing that their presence was detected, the poachers quickly fled on motorcycles, leaving behind the meat and a deer head.
Since no poachers were apprehended during the operation, a case under the Unidentified Offender Report (UDR) has been filed in accordance with forest laws. Following the instructions from senior officials, the recovered meat was destroyed at the Chandpai station, where kerosene was poured over it before burying it in the ground.
