Rangamati, Mar 18 – Mir Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Imroz, 28, a leader of the banned student organization Chhatra League in Rangamati city, has been arrested by Kotwali Police Station.

The arrest occurred during a raid conducted at his residence in Alam Dock Yard in Rangamati city on Tuesday midnight, according to Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahed Uddin.

"We were looking for him for a long time, and finally, after confirming his location, we conducted a raid and arrested him," said OC Shahed Uddin. He confirmed that Imroz is an accused in "Operation Devil Hunt."

Imroz, who served as the organizing secretary of the Rangamati District Chhatra League, is the son of Md. Jamir Uddin, a former organizing secretary of the Rangamati District Awami League. However, his father was reportedly known as a rebel against Awami League President Dipankar Talukder.

The arrest followed public attention drawn to Imroz's activities after Rangamati District Chhatra League President Rony posted a Facebook status about a "Doa mahfil and iftar distribution" event commemorating the 105th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Social media posts showed Imroz himself distributing iftar packets featuring Bangabandhu's picture.

The arrest of Imroz, who was reportedly a leader of a banned organization, comes amidst increased scrutiny of student political activities in the region.
