Naikhongchhari, Sept 17 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has inaugurated two new Temporary Operating Bases (TOBs) along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban to strengthen surveillance and security in the border area.
On Wednesday, September 16, Brigadier General Kazi Samsher Uddin, commander of the Cox’s Bazar Region, inaugurated the newly constructed Aracchhatola Tila and Haturani Tila TOBs in the area under the operational jurisdiction of Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB).
According to BGB sources, the two bases were established near the border to enhance surveillance, prevent smuggling and illegal entry, and improve the effectiveness of operational activities.
Previously, existing BGB Border Outposts (BOPs) in the area were located relatively far from the border, creating some challenges for regular patrols and surveillance.
During the inauguration ceremony, the regional commander provided various instructions to BGB personnel assigned to the two new TOBs.
Sector Commander of Ramu Sector Colonel Md. Anwar-ul-Alam and 34 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel S. M. Khairul Alam, along with officers and members of BGB at different levels, attended the programme.
BGB said the two new TOBs would strengthen patrols and surveillance along the border and enhance operational capabilities to prevent smuggling, illegal entry and other border-related crimes.
