Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — BNP Chairperson's advisor Zainul Abdin Faruk has strongly criticised former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of ignoring public opinion and planning to destroy the BNP. He made these remarks during a programme at the National Press Club in the capital on Saturday.

"Sheikh Hasina never listened to the people. She planned to eliminate BNP, but now she has fled. The question on everyone’s mind is whether these incidents are part of a scheme to reinstate the previous government," said Zainul Abdin Faruk.

Referring to the head of the interim government, Faruk warned, "If any incident occurs, you will have to take responsibility. Sheikh Hasina did not listen, but you must."

He questioned the lack of clarity around recent incidents, stating, "Three days have passed, and people still don’t know who started the fire. Why isn’t Harun Biplob being arrested? The names of those involved must be revealed, and action must be taken against those who want to bring Sheikh Hasina back."

Faruk also expressed concerns about electoral integrity, criticising past practices of irregular voting. "BNP does not want elections where votes are cast at night instead of during the day. The election map must be provided, and a date for fair elections must be set. Power should be returned to the people," he asserted.

Calling for reforms, he urged the interim government to ensure a democratic process where the people’s voices could be heard in parliament, highlighting the need for transparent and accountable governance.

The remarks come amid growing political tension in the country, as calls for fair elections and accountability dominate the political discourse.
