Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N) — BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has criticised the formation of ministry-level committees by the anti-discrimination student movement, stating that their role should remain within university campuses.

Speaking at an introduction meeting of the Central Committee of the Bangladeshi government at Bhashani Hall in Nayapaltan on Saturday morning, Rizvi warned that if students set up committees in ministries, district offices, and DC offices, businessmen and others might exploit them for personal gains.

Expressing concern over the death of a BNP worker in Comilla, he accused law enforcement agencies of increasing fear in the country through extrajudicial actions. "If someone commits a crime, they should be arrested and tried. But why would law enforcement agencies kill them?" he questioned, likening the current situation to past incidents under Sheikh Hasina’s tenure.

Regarding Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Rizvi stated that an interim government should not resort to extrajudicial killings as seen in previous regimes. He urged the government to act with responsibility and fairness.

Reaffirming BNP’s support for the anti-discrimination movement, Rizvi clarified, “We do not seek any share of power for BNP.”

He also condemned alleged propaganda by Indian media about the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, asserting that the Bangladesh Army remains committed to the country's people.
