Dhaka, Feb 27 (V7N) – A new political party, initiated by student leaders, is set to be officially announced on February 28, marking a significant shift in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
According to a press release issued by the National Citizens Committee (NCC) and signed by its spokesperson Samantha Sharmin, the organization has decided to dissolve all organograms, executive committees, cells, and search committees, except for the central convener, member secretary, spokesperson, and chief organizer.
Key Decisions from the NCC's 11th General Meeting:
The political party will be launched on February 28.
Many members of the National Citizens Committee will take key roles in the new party.
All NCC members joining the new party will lose their NCC membership, effective February 28.
Members who do not join the new party will retain their NCC membership.
The convener, member secretary, spokesperson, and chief organizer will serve informally for 15 days after the party’s formation to determine the NCC’s future structure.
The Role of the NCC After February 28:
The press release emphasized that NCC, a civil-political platform formed from the student-public uprising, has now fulfilled its historic responsibility by initiating a new political party.
Moving forward, NCC will no longer take the initiative to form another party.
The National Citizens Committee will continue to be active in political affairs and work for the people’s interests.
This development comes amid growing political shifts in Bangladesh, particularly with student movements playing a more direct role in shaping governance. The launch on February 28 is expected to set the tone for their future political ambitions.
