Manikganj, Apr 23 (V7N) — BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that while the interim government lacks constitutional or legal recognition, it enjoys the support of all democracy-loving people. He called on the interim administration to take clear decisions about the political future of the Awami League, now that state power is in its hands.
Speaking during a visit to the burnt house of artist Manabendra Ghosh in Manikganj Sadar Upazila around 11:30 am on Wednesday, Rizvi said, “The Awami League’s followers and allies are now in hiding. They have the money to buy petrol to burn down homes and weapons to kill. The people want to know what steps are being taken to stop them.”
He further stated that many of the Awami League’s long-time protectors, who were involved in bank looting and money laundering, have now blended into the general population or fled to neighboring countries. Rizvi warned the interim government that failure to bring them to justice would earn it the label of a “failed government.”
Rizvi emphasized, “You must act with the full force of the administration to unmask these elements who are spreading terror under the shadows of power.”
Several BNP leaders were present during the visit, including District Convener Afroza Khanam Rita, Advocate Azad Khan, Golam Abedin Kaiser, Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Habu, Tuhinur Rahman Tuhin, Masud Parvez, Jinnah Khan, Abdul Khalek Shuvo, and Sirajul Islam Khan Sajeeb.
