Dhaka, Apr 27 (V7N) — The Communist Party of China (CPC) has expressed its desire for a stable and democratic Bangladesh while seeking to strengthen its ties with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Following a meeting with a visiting CPC delegation on Saturday evening (April 26) at a hotel in the capital, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that relations between the two parties are "deepening once again."
The CPC delegation, which arrived in Bangladesh on Friday, engaged in a series of meetings with various political parties throughout Saturday. The discussions with BNP lasted for about two hours.
After the meeting, the Chinese ambassador emphasized China's interest in building even closer relations with Bangladesh in the future. Speaking to the media, Mirza Fakhrul described the interaction as a party-to-party meeting, highlighting the historical relationship between BNP and the CPC.
"We have a very old relationship with the Communist Party of China. There was a gap of about 15 years due to the fascist government's refusal to maintain it. Now, we are reestablishing those ties. As a result, our relationship with the Chinese Communist Party is deepening further," Mirza Fakhrul said.
Addressing questions about the upcoming national election, he noted that the CPC made it clear that they do not wish to interfere in Bangladesh's internal affairs.
"They want stability, they want to see a strong Bangladesh, and they hope for an overall democratic environment in this country," Fakhrul added.
The renewed engagement between BNP and the CPC signals China's growing interest in maintaining strong ties with all major political forces in Bangladesh amid evolving regional dynamics.
