DHAKA, May 11 (V7N) –Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today extended his heartfelt tributes, wishes, and congratulations to mothers worldwide, including his mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, on the occasion of Mother's Day.
In a Facebook post, Tarique Rahman conveyed his sincere greetings and best wishes to all mothers in Bangladesh and across the globe, wishing them continued happiness, peace, and prosperity.
He lauded Khaleda Zia for dedicating her life to continuous struggle, sacrifice, relentless hard work, compassion, and genuine love for the people, all in pursuit of democratic development and the building of a progressive society.
Tarique Rahman highlighted that during the BNP's time in power, under Khaleda Zia's leadership, women's education was significantly expanded. He added that she implemented various initiatives to prevent girl students from dropping out of school.
The BNP Acting Chairman paid his deepest respects to his mother, Begum Khaleda Zia, referring to her as a beacon of women's education, the 'Mother of the Nation,' and a national leader.
Mentioning that Mother's Day is an international day of respect, Tarique Rahman emphasized the importance and contribution of mothers in society and family. He noted that motherhood and motherhood ceremonies are celebrated globally on this day, and while children love their mothers every day, today is a special occasion to express that love individually.
Tarique Rahman described a mother as a remarkable institution within the family, stating that a child's future is built upon the nurturing of a great mother. He acknowledged a mother's tireless efforts in raising her children amidst life's struggles.
He further stated that in a mother's company, a child's excellence and true human nature are awakened, purifying their soul. He noted that many countries and cultures have embraced Mother's Day programs, giving it significant dimension.
Tarique Rahman eloquently described "Mother" as the sweetest call in the world, encompassing deep affection, compassion, and the most genuine love. He recalled that from childhood, the name of mother is intertwined with every human emotion.
He expressed his hope that all mothers would be able to raise their children as worthy and good citizens, emphasizing that only a mother can guide her child on the right path, leading to a brighter future for the nation.
Tarique Rahman reiterated that "mother" is the most sacred and sweet word. He noted that the second Sunday of May is celebrated worldwide as 'World Mother's Day,' and accordingly, today is that special day to honor all mothers and mother figures at every level of society.
He also briefly touched upon the history of Mother's Day, mentioning its medieval Christian roots and its modern origins in the United States, largely attributed to the efforts of Anna Maria Reeves Jarvis and her daughter Anna Maria Reeves Jarvis, eventually leading to its official recognition in the US in 1914. He concluded by noting that Mother's Day is now celebrated with dignity in over a hundred countries, including Bangladesh.
