Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has accused the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of weakening organizationally by resorting to negative tactics and sidelining public welfare politics.
In a statement issued on Monday, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader condemned what he described as politically motivated statements made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, which were published in the media.
Quader asserted that BNP, as a political entity, has failed to introduce any new dimensions to mass politics. Instead, he accused Mirza Fakhrul of consistently propagating false and unfounded stories of persecution in the media, attributing these actions to BNP's lack of constructive political programs for the people.
According to Quader, BNP's leadership attempts to garner sympathy by portraying themselves as victims of oppression, utilizing what he referred to as the "sympathy card." However, he argued that BNP's organizational strength is dwindling due to its adoption of negative tactics that prioritize self-interest over public welfare.
Highlighting Awami League's legitimacy as the ruling party, Quader emphasized the international recognition received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government. He contrasted this with what he characterized as BNP's existential crisis and approaching political bankruptcy.
Quader further criticized BNP's leadership, labeling the party as artificially created and accusing its members of perpetuating artificial crises through false and politically motivated statements. He urged BNP to refrain from engaging in anti-state and terrorist activities, asserting that the government's role is to combat such threats.
Emphasizing Awami League's commitment to upholding democratic rights and combating corruption and misrule, Quader highlighted the detrimental impact of BNP's previous regime, which he claimed fostered terrorism and extremism. He underscored the people's desire for a peaceful, secure, and welfare-oriented state, reaffirming Awami League's dedication to fulfilling these aspirations.
