Dhaka, July 27 (V7N)— The court has granted a seven-day remand for BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie in connection with the massive attack, vandalism, and arson at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building amid the violent rampage surrounding the quota reform movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akhter's court issued the remand order on Saturday afternoon following a hearing. Alongside Annie, the court also granted a seven-day remand for Golam Dastgir Prince and ABM Khalid Hasan.

The investigating officer, Mohammad Yasin Shikder, a police inspector from the Khilgaon zonal team, presented the accused in court and requested a 10-day remand for further investigation.

In response, Annie’s legal team, including lawyers Zainal Abedin Mejbah and Taherul Islam Tauhid, filed for bail and sought the cancellation of the remand. However, the state opposed the bail applications. After hearing arguments from both sides.
