Feb 20 (V7N) - As Bangladesh prepares to take on India in their Champions Trophy opener tomorrow, all eyes are on fast bowler Nahid Rana. The young pacer, known for regularly exceeding 150 km/h, has become the talk of the town after his impressive performances. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, speaking ahead of the game, expressed confidence in his team's abilities, especially in the fast bowling department, which includes the likes of Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Shanto believes the team is well-balanced, with key all-rounders like Mehidy Hasan Miraz adding strength in the lower order. “If we execute our plan properly, we can beat any team on any day,” Shanto said, emphasizing the importance of a collective effort across batting, bowling, and fielding.
While Bangladesh has historically struggled with pace, the recent emergence of Rana and others has bolstered their attack. “Having Nahid in the team brings a fresh dynamic to our pace department,” Shanto noted. He also highlighted the team's preparations in the recent BPL, where players like Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar showed strong form, boosting confidence ahead of the tournament.
Rana’s express pace and skill have added a new dimension to Bangladesh's attack, and his inclusion has only strengthened their hopes in this prestigious tournament. “We have some quality fast bowlers, and I am really happy with the unit we have now,” said Shanto, hoping for strong performances from his pace battery and all-rounders.
As the match against India approaches, Shanto remains focused on executing the game plan, knowing that the team’s strength lies in playing as a cohesive unit. The Champions Trophy opener is set to start at 3:00 PM (BST) tomorrow at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
