DHAKA, Feb 15, (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has stated that the ultimate goal of the interim government is to formulate the "July Charter" by building a consensus on political and institutional reforms.
Speaking at the first meeting of the National Consensus Commission with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy this evening, Prof. Yunus emphasized the need for deep reforms, acknowledging past governance failures.
Key Points from Prof. Yunus’s Speech:
The country cannot ignore the need for reforms.
No institution was functioning properly, and laws were not fully operational.
A consensus among political parties will make implementing reforms easier.
The "July Charter" will be a formal agreement on necessary reforms.
The reform proposals from six different commissions will be uploaded online for public and party feedback.
Once finalized, the charter will be signed by political parties and preserved in museums and institutions.
"We Must Do It" – Prof. Yunus
We have no way of getting out of this. The July Charter is essential for the sustainability of the country. I appeal to you all – we must achieve this consensus,” he urged.
