Feb 19 (V7N) Orlando City and midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, the club announced Tuesday.

Lodeiro, 35, recorded one goal and 11 assists in 34 MLS matches (16 starts) during his lone season with Orlando. General Manager Luiz Muzzi praised the Uruguayan veteran, calling him a "fantastic human being" and a great addition to the team, but noted the decision was in the best interest of both parties.

Before joining Orlando, Lodeiro was a Seattle Sounders legend, helping the club win MLS Cups in 2016 and 2019 and a CONCACAF Champions League title in 2022. Over eight seasons, he amassed 41 goals and 80 assists in 191 regular-season matches for Seattle.

Lodeiro, who represented Uruguay at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, came off the bench in five playoff matches for Orlando last year but did not score.

Orlando City kicks off their MLS season on Saturday against the Philadelphia Union.
