Dubai, Feb 20 (V7N) – British tennis star Emma Raducanu was visibly upset during her second-round match against Karolina Muchova at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Tuesday, after a spectator exhibiting "fixated behavior" was ejected from the venue.
Raducanu appeared to be in tears as she spoke with the chair umpire during the first set. Play was paused until security located the man and escorted him away. According to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), this was not the first time the individual had caused concern.
"On Monday, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behavior," the WTA said in a statement on Wednesday.
The same individual was later spotted in the first few rows during Raducanu’s match on Tuesday and was removed from the venue. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.
Despite the interruption, Raducanu lost the match 7-6 (6), 6-4, after dropping the first four games of the match.
