"The IndiGo airline was unable to land in Guwahati because of the thick fog Rather"

An IndiGo airline from India’s Mumbai to Guwahati had to make an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early on Saturday January 13.

Due to low visibility, the plane that was diverted failed to arrive at the Guwahati airport and instead landed in Dhaka at 4 am, according to NDTV.

According to the airline, arrangements are underway to arrange for a new crew to carry the passengers to Guwahati and refreshments for them need to be made.

"Due to severe weather in Guwahati, IndiGo aircraft 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati was rerouted to Dhaka, Bangladesh. An alternative crew is being scheduled to operate the Dhaka to Guwahati flight for operational reasons. Along with receiving information, the passengers received refreshments on board. We apologise for any trouble this has caused," an IndiGo statement read.

After the unplanned detour, several passengers took to social media to voice their displeasure with the prolonged delay. Suraj Singh Thakur, the former chairman of the Mumbai Youth Congress, wrote on X that the passengers had been on the plane for several hours. Thakur was travelling to Imphal to take part in the Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra.

"I travelled to Guwahati on IndiGo6E flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai. But the plane was unable to land in Guwahati because of the thick fog. Rather, it touched down in Dhaka," he wrote.

The 178 passengers had been waiting for a crew member to return them to their location for over four hours, according to a report on X by another pilot.

"IndiGo6E has been locked inside a plane carrying 178 passengers on flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati for the past nine hours. Due to reduced visibility in the northeast, we landed in Dhaka at roughly four in the morning. Can we quickly expedite? We have been waiting for another crew for the past four hours. He composed.
