Comilla, August 24 — Chief of Army Staff, General Waqar-uz-Zaman, visited the flood-affected areas of Feni and Comilla to assess the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. On Friday afternoon, the Army Chief conducted an aerial survey of several flood-affected areas, including Fulgazi and Parashuram in Comilla, to observe the extent of the disaster and provide necessary instructions for the relief operations.

General Waqar-uz-Zaman arrived in Comilla from the Army Aviation Group's helipad, where his first stop was Comilla Cantonment. Upon arrival, he was briefed by the local officials about the overall flood situation in the district.

Following the briefing, the Army Chief took to the skies again, flying over various upazilas of Comilla and later surveying the flood-hit areas of Fulgazi in Feni. During the aerial inspection, he instructed army personnel to prioritize moving stranded residents, who were taking refuge on rooftops, to safer shelters. In Parashuram, Feni, he closely monitored the ongoing relief and rescue operations being conducted by the army.

After completing his assessment, General Waqar-uz-Zaman returned to Dhaka later in the afternoon. In a show of solidarity with the flood victims, it was announced earlier in the day that all members of the Bangladesh Army would contribute one day's salary to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund. This donation aims to support ongoing relief efforts for the victims affected by the devastating floods in Feni, Chittagong, Comilla, Noakhali, Sunamganj, and Habiganj.

The visit underscores the Bangladesh Army's commitment to providing crucial assistance and relief to those affected by the flooding, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people in the disaster-stricken areas.
