Dhaka, Sep 18 (V7N)– The commissioned officers of the Bangladesh Army have been temporarily granted the powers of executive magistrates for the next two months. This announcement was made in an official notification signed by Jeti Pru, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, following an order from the President, issued on Tuesday.

The notification states that this authority will be effective for 60 days from the date of issuance and can be exercised by commissioned officers throughout the country.

Under this provision, the army officers will be able to exercise magisterial powers concerning offenses listed in sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.

This decision grants them authority over a range of criminal offenses and allows them to take necessary legal actions in their capacity as executive magistrates, reinforcing the administrative efforts across the country during this period.
