Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has instructed the seaports across the country to hoist warning signal number 3 due to the formation of deep convective clouds over the sea, driven by active monsoon winds. A weather alert issued by meteorologist Manowar Hossain on Thursday morning warns of potential storms with wind speeds of up to 60 km/h in nine regions across the country.

The alert specifies that deep clouds have formed over the North Bay of Bengal and the coastal regions of Bangladesh, which may lead to strong gusts of wind affecting coastal areas, the North Bay, and seaports. In response, the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been directed to display local warning signal number 3.

Additionally, the department has advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal to proceed towards the coast with caution and remain near shore until further notice.

For the country’s inland river ports, the forecast until 6:00 PM today predicts temporary gusty winds between 45 and 60 km/h from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, affecting regions including Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar. River ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1 as a precaution.

The weather department will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
