Mongla, Feb 26 (V7N) – A meeting was held in Mongla with government officials, journalists, and female fisherfolk to discuss the development of women in the fishing industry. The meeting was organized by the Badaban Sangh on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Upazila Officers' Club, with the aim of improving the welfare and opportunities for female fisherfolk.
During the meeting, 31 female fisherfolk raised concerns about discrimination and neglect. The women shared that, despite being fishers, they never receive any assistance. They also mentioned that the government does not provide any alternative training for them, leaving them as an underprivileged and neglected group. Additionally, they called for training and support to help improve the lives of their children.
Present at the meeting were Upazila Social Services Officer Masud Rana, Upazila Cooperative Officer Jubair Hossain, journalists Monirul Islam Dulu, Abu Hossain Suman, Abul Hasan, Ali Azim, and Badaban Sangh’s Field Facilitators Nazmira Jui, Mehdi Hasan, and Kamrun Nahar.
