MBSTU, Sep 03 (V7N) - Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) has issued a temporary suspension for 19 members of the MBSTU Bangladesh Chatro League (BCL), including its president and general secretary, due to allegations of harassment and intimidation against students involved in the anti-discrimination protest.

In an emergency meeting held by the Board of Regents on Tuesday, September 3, the expulsion order was enacted. The affected students are barred from participating in academic activities, accessing the campus, staying in university dormitories, and taking part in the current semester's final exams.

A student representing the complainants stated, “We, the general students, are calling for their permanent expulsion. It is surprising that one individual is not mentioned in the complaint. We urge the university administration to address this oversight and ensure that those responsible receive appropriate punishment.”

Following a complaint from general students about the alleged misconduct of this political group, the Board of Regents formed an investigation committee on August 14. The committee's findings led to the recommendation of temporary expulsion for the 19 students after a thorough review and interviews.
