Dhaka, Jun 01 (V7N) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has declared the High Court’s verdict invalid that had previously annulled the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party. As a result, Jamaat-e-Islami has officially regained its registration.
Following the ruling by a four-member bench led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his gratitude on Facebook early Sunday morning.
In his post, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman wrote, “Alhamdulillah! The unjust verdict given by the High Court regarding the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has been declared null and void by a four-member bench headed by the Chief Justice today.”
He added, “I bow my head in gratitude to the Almighty God – Alhamdulillah, Summa Alhamdulillah. The next process is related to the Election Commission. I seek the help of the Almighty God – may we quickly regain our full rights. Amen.”
Later, the Jamaat Ameer posted a second message urging supporters to refrain from celebrations or demonstrations, stating:
“Again, a call to dear colleagues—let’s not celebrate, not march, not chant slogans. Let us thank the Lord of Glory, declare His holiness, and recite Takbir in His name. May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, continue to shower us with His mercy. Amen.”
This verdict marks a significant legal development for the party amid its ongoing political journey in Bangladesh.
