CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21 (V7N) – Chittagong Kings showcased an exceptional performance to crush Durbar Rajshahi by 111 runs, marking their fifth win in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium today.

Naeem Islam Shines with the Bat

Makeshift opener Naeem Islam delivered a composed 56 off 41 balls, anchoring Chittagong's innings to a strong total of 191-8. His innings featured five boundaries and three sixes, forming a crucial 84-run partnership with Graham Clark (45 off 28 balls), who added momentum with two fours and three sixes.

Captain Mohammad Mithun (32 off 20 balls) and Haider Ali (25 off 14 balls) provided impactful middle-order contributions, helping the Kings close in on the 200-run mark.

Rajshahi’s Batting Collapse

Rajshahi's chase never gained traction as they crumbled to 80 all out in just 14.2 overs. Taskin Ahmed, in his first game as captain, top-scored with a run-a-ball 21 but lacked support. Only Akbar Ali (10) reached double figures among the rest.

Chittagong’s Bowlers Seal the Deal

Shoriful Islam and Naeem Islam each claimed two wickets, while Syed Khaled Ahmed’s breakthrough dismissed Taskin, effectively sealing Rajshahi’s fate.

This commanding victory propelled Chittagong Kings to second place in the BPL standings, just behind Rangpur Riders. Meanwhile, Rajshahi suffered their fifth defeat, and their second in as many days, following a loss to Khulna Tigers despite a century from Anamul Haque Bijoy.

The Kings’ ruthless performance highlights their rising momentum as the tournament progresses.
