DHAKA, Feb 18, (V7N) – Bangladesh’s batting faltered in their lone practice match against Pakistan Shaheens, as they were bowled out for 202 in 38.2 overs at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai. Vice-captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz top-scored with 44 off 53 balls, hitting three boundaries, but lacked substantial support from the rest of the batting lineup.

Soumya Sarkar (35) and tail-ender Tanzim Hasan Sakib (30) provided some resistance, while Towhid Hridoy (20) was the only other batter to reach the 20-run mark. The innings got off to a shaky start when opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim fell for just 6, and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto managed only 12, further denting Bangladesh’s hopes of putting up a competitive total.

Pakistan Shaheens' leg-spinner Usama Mir was the chief destroyer, claiming 4-43, while pacer Musa Khan chipped in with 2-42, and Sufiyan Muqeem took one wicket. Their disciplined bowling kept Bangladesh in check throughout the innings, preventing any significant partnerships.

Bangladesh’s scorecard reflected their struggles, with Mushfiqur Rahim (7), Jaker Ali Anik (4), and Rishad Hossain (14) failing to capitalize on their starts. Nasum Ahmed (15) and Taskin Ahmed (4) also fell cheaply, bringing an end to their underwhelming innings.

The lackluster batting display raises concerns for Bangladesh ahead of the Champions Trophy, where they will need a much-improved performance to compete against top-tier teams in the tournament.
