Dhaka, Sep 02 (V7N) - Detectives from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested Haji Mohammad Salim, a former lawmaker from the Awami League, in the Bangshal area of Dhaka early Monday morning, according to official sources.
 
Md Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan, joint commissioner of the DMP’s Detective Branch (DB-North), confirmed the arrest. He stated that a team from the Detective Branch conducted a raid in the Bangshal area around 1:30am, leading to Salim's arrest.
 
Salim faces multiple charges, including several cases filed at different police stations. In a 2022 court ruling, he was convicted and sentenced to prison for charges related to accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.
 
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the nature of the new charges or the current legal proceedings.
