Manchester, Oct 28 (V7N)- Manchester United have officially announced the dismissal of Erik ten Hag as head coach following a disappointing start to the season. The Dutchman’s departure was confirmed on Monday after United’s recent 2-1 loss to West Ham, which left the team in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st out of 36 teams in the Europa League standings.

Ten Hag, who joined United two and a half years ago, managed to secure two trophies during his tenure, including a Carabao Cup and an FA Cup. However, this season’s poor performance ultimately led to his departure. The club’s statement expressed appreciation for his contributions: "Erik has stepped down as first-team coach. We are grateful for his accomplishments and wish him the best in the future."

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ten Hag's assistant last season and a former United player, will step in as interim head coach. He will lead the current coaching team while the club searches for a permanent replacement.
