MIAMI, Feb 16, (V7N) – Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic and Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina pulled off upset victories on Saturday to reach the final of the ATP Delray Beach Open. Kecmanovic defeated third seed Alex Michelsen 7-6 (7/3), 6-3, while Davidovich Fokina ousted fourth seed Matteo Arnaldi 6-4, 6-4.
Kecmanovic, a runner-up in Delray Beach last year, is chasing his second career ATP title, having won his first at Kitzbühel in 2020. The 25-year-old Serbian displayed composure under pressure, saving two set points in the first set before dominating the tie-break. In the second set, he maintained his momentum to seal victory in 90 minutes.
Davidovich Fokina, who previously upset world number four Taylor Fritz, is seeking his first ATP title. The Spaniard, also 25, reached his only other final at the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters, where he fell to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Against Arnaldi, he controlled the match from the baseline, wrapping up the win in one hour and 42 minutes.
The final promises an intense battle between two players eager to claim their first Delray Beach Open crown. Kecmanovic’s consistency and Davidovich Fokina’s aggressive play set the stage for a gripping showdown.
With both players hungry for success, the Delray Beach final on Sunday is expected to be an exciting clash of styles and determination.
