Dhaka, Jan 07 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received a formal response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding concerns raised by the Bangladesh national cricket team about security at the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup-2026 in India, including the team’s request to relocate its matches.
In a press release on Wednesday (January 7), the BCB said the ICC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the full and uninterrupted participation of the Bangladesh team in the tournament. The ICC also expressed its willingness to work closely with the BCB to address its security concerns, stating that the board’s proposals will be seriously considered in the detailed security planning for the event.
The clarification comes after media reports on Tuesday night (January 6) suggested that the ICC had issued an ultimatum to the BCB regarding travel to India. The BCB strongly denied these claims, calling them “completely false, baseless and not reflective of the nature or statements of the communication with the ICC.”
The board emphasized that discussions with the ICC will continue in a constructive and professional manner, with the goal of reaching a realistic and amicable solution. The BCB reiterated that the safety, security, and overall well-being of the Bangladesh national cricket team will remain its highest priority.
