Pabna, Sept 16 (V7N) – Family members and villagers held a human chain in Pabna on Tuesday demanding the immediate rescue and whereabouts of 10-year-old Kamrunnahar Kali, who has remained missing for five days.
The protest was held in front of the Pabna Press Club at noon, with relatives and local residents urging law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to locate the child.
After the human chain, the child’s relatives and local residents submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police in Pabna, calling for immediate action to trace her.
Kamrunnahar Kali is the daughter of Kamal Pramanik of Kalunia village under Dogachi Union in Pabna Sadar upazila.
According to her family, Kali went to the local Sripur market with her father on Wednesday afternoon, September 9. After returning home from the market, she handed the shopping bags to her mother and then went towards an area near their house.
When she did not return even after evening, family members began searching for her in nearby areas.
At one point, her sandals were found about 200 yards from the family home, raising further concern over her whereabouts.
Her father subsequently filed a general diary (GD) with Pabna Sadar Police Station regarding her disappearance.
Speakers at the human chain said the family and local residents had become increasingly worried after five days had passed without any information about the child.
They called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, locate Kali as soon as possible and safely return her to her family.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tarikul Islam said the disappearance was being treated as a matter of importance.
“Necessary measures are being taken to locate the child,” he said.
