Khulna, Jan 16, (V7N) - A new agriculture college is under construction at Paikgachha Upazila in Khulna, aiming to enhance agricultural, veterinary, and fisheries production by expanding educational opportunities for the younger generation.
The specialized institution is being built on 25 acres of land between Shibbati Bridge and Alamtala and will be governed by Khulna University (KU) upon project completion.
A high-powered team led by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rejaul Karim recently visited the construction site to review progress. Prof. Karim emphasized that the college would be integrated into KU, leveraging the university's expertise in various disciplines to enrich academic programs.
The college will serve as a field laboratory for academic activities related to agriculture, veterinary, and animal sciences, alongside research in mangrove forestry, sustainable forest management, and fisheries and marine science.
Prof. Karim expressed optimism that the construction would be completed by June 2025, with plans to launch academic programs by July. The college is expected to operate as a multidimensional institution, offering B.Sc and other specialized certificate courses.
Accompanying the VC during the visit were KU Treasurer Prof. Nurunnabi, Registrar Prof. Mahbubur Rahman, Students' Adviser Prof. Nazmus Sadat, and ICT Director Prof. Shamim Ahsan.
