Tver, Sep 18 (V7N) – Ukrainian forces carried out significant drone attacks on Russia's Tver region on Wednesday, an area believed to house critical Russian arsenals, according to Russian media reports. The attack prompted the evacuation of locals to safer areas, although no casualties have been reported.

Igor Rudenia, the governor of the Tver region, confirmed the incident on Telegram, stating that firefighters were working to contain a large fire. However, Rudenia did not disclose the source or precise location of the fire. The British news agency Reuters noted this development but was unable to independently verify all claims.

Unverified videos circulating on social media depict massive explosions lighting up the night sky, suggesting the fire might have occurred in the northern part of Moscow. This region reportedly contains key stockpiles of missiles, ammunition, and explosives.

According to a 2018 report from Russia’s state media, RIA, Moscow had constructed a significant armory in the area, which is home to around 11,000 people. The region is said to be one of Russia's most important sites for conventional weapons storage.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has yet to officially comment on the incident. However, local media, citing the Ministry of Defense, reported that the Russian air force successfully intercepted a Ukrainian drone attack, shooting down 54 drones over western Russia.

Despite this, the Ministry’s statement did not specifically mention Tver as the location of the attacks. Ukraine has also yet to issue any comments regarding the incident.

As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia intensifies, drone attacks have become an increasingly prominent aspect of the warfare, with both sides frequently using drones to target key infrastructure and military sites. The latest attack underscores the ongoing volatility of the region.
