Sylhet, Jan 10, (V7N) - Despite a blistering unbeaten 82 off 33 balls by Sabbir Rahman, the Dhaka Capitals suffered a seven-wicket defeat to the Chittagong Kings in their BPL match on Thursday in Sylhet. Sabbir's explosive knock included nine sixes and three fours, providing a late surge after a sluggish start. Tanzid Hasan also contributed with a steady 54 off 48 balls. However, Dhaka's batting lineup struggled to accelerate, failing to set a challenging target.

Chittagong Kings chased down the target confidently, led by Usman Khan's 55 off 33 balls and supported by Parvez Hossain Emon's 17. Their opening partnership of 55 runs laid the foundation before Graham Clark added 39 off 32 balls. Captain Mohammad Mithun (33* off 22) and Shamim Hossain (30 off 14) finished the job comfortably, securing the win.

Khaled Ahmed was the standout bowler for the Kings, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs. With this victory, Chittagong Kings moved to fourth place on the points table, while Dhaka Capitals remained winless, sitting at the bottom with zero points and a negative net run rate of -1.527.

In a high-scoring thriller, Rangpur Riders clinched a dramatic three-wicket victory over defending champions Fortune Barishal, thanks to a sensational last-over performance by Nurul Hasan. Chasing a massive target of 198 runs, Rangpur needed 26 runs off the final over. Nurul stunned everyone by smashing three sixes and three fours off Kyle Mayers, scoring 30 runs in the last over to seal the victory with a last-ball six.

Riders were under pressure, needing 71 runs in the last five overs with seven wickets in hand. Tight bowling in the 16th, 17th, and 18th overs left them needing 39 runs off the final 12 balls. Jahandad Khan's three wickets for 13 runs had Barishal in control, but Nurul's explosive 32 off just 7 balls turned the game around.

Earlier, Barishal posted a formidable 197/5, powered by Kyle Mayers' 61 off 29 balls, featuring seven sixes. However, his expensive final over overshadowed his batting performance. Tawfique Khan (38 off 28) and Iftikhar Ahmed (48 off 36) also made valuable contributions for Rangpur.

With this win, Rangpur Riders extended their unbeaten run to six matches, topping the table with 12 points and a net run rate of 1.732. Barishal, despite their strong showing, suffered their third loss in eight games, holding second place with six points and a net run rate of 0.838.
