Rajshahi, Mar 13 (V7N)– Authorities in Rajshahi have announced the arrest of 15 individuals following a joint operation by the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and the Detective Branch (DB). The arrests include two suspects apprehended as part of "Operation Devil Hunt," an ongoing initiative aimed at curbing unrest in the region.

"Operation Devil Hunt" was launched to prevent destabilizing activities similar to those seen elsewhere in the country, according to police officials. In the past 24 hours, two individuals were detained for their alleged involvement in attacks on anti-discrimination student movements, explosive-related offenses, and other terrorist activities.

The two suspects identified from "Operation Devil Hunt" are Md. Pintu, also known as Sayeed Hasan, 45, and Md. Zahidul Alam, 37. Pintu, a member of the Jubo League, is a resident of Kazla Jamrul Talar in the Motihar police station area of Rajshahi city. Zahidul Alam, originally from Aditmari in Lalmonirhat district, currently resides in the Shahmakhdum residential area of Rajshahi city.

In addition to the "Operation Devil Hunt" arrests, the RMP operation resulted in the apprehension of 13 other individuals. Among those arrested, three were detained on outstanding warrants, three in drug-related cases, and seven for various other criminal offenses.

"Legal action has been taken against all arrested individuals," stated a police spokesperson. The authorities did not release further details on the specific charges faced by the suspects.

This operation comes amidst heightened security measures in Bangladesh, with law enforcement agencies increasing their efforts to maintain public order and safety.
