Barguna, Mar 13 (V7N) – A two-day conference of volunteers from the Barishal division is set to begin in coastal Barguna, featuring the unveiling of Bangladesh's largest globe and map. The event, themed "United for Change, Strength in Volunteerism," will bring together over 400 volunteers to discuss climate change, disaster preparedness, and the power of volunteerism.

The conference, which aims to educate students on climate change and disaster information, will be held at Barguna Government College, where the massive globe and map of Bangladesh are being constructed. The event kicks off on Friday, March 14, in the afternoon and will conclude on March 15 with a pledge of allegiance and commitment.

Technical assistance for the program, implemented by development organization Jagonari in collaboration with Oxfam, is being provided by Patuakhali University of Science and Technology and Barisal College of Fine Arts.

Organizers stated that this grand gathering follows a three-day volunteer advance survival training held at Shubhasandhya beach in Taltoli upazila in February. The conference will provide a unique platform for volunteers to showcase their activities and exchange experiences, with seasoned volunteers from various sectors sharing their insights.

Hosne Ara Hasi, Chief Executive Officer of Jagonari, emphasized that the conference will facilitate networking, knowledge sharing, and experience exchange among volunteers and humanitarian professionals. “This will set a unique example in the field of humanitarian service and will inspire people to engage in volunteer activities,” Hasi said. “It will also help volunteers prepare to respond to any disaster.”
